I was please to say that the Blue lizard canary club of great britian members put on a good performace at the Show. with myself [David allen] showing 3 birds and getting 88/90/91 points the 91 points is 4th place one off a medal, Joe Coakley entered 1 blue which also gained 90 points. I was pleased see a increase in the numbers of Blue lizards shown 38 singles and 9 stams making a grand total of 74 Blue lizards. The stam was the greatest increase as last year there was only 3.
The single gold medal winnerwas a fantastic bird with really dark feet and legs as black as coal it had a good back with well defined spangles the exhibitor was Bart Deckers from Belgium. silver& bronze medals were won by Bartomeu Frsullull from Spain, the 2nd was a Broken Cap Hen with really nice dark spangles but not so difined and the legs were not so dark as the winning bird. the 3rd place was a Broken Cap cock with a very good back but the spangle were a little paler than the gold and silver medal birdsand again the legs were slighly paler. the over all standard of the blues i think was much better than in 2011.
In the stam class the Gold medal was won by Jac Gubbels from Holland who i know some of the club members know
his winning stam was of four clear cap hens with exellent backs and a good amount of breast work again lovley dark legsand all four were very even giving them good harmony. the silver was won byMartinez Escarabajal from Spain this stam was four clear cap blue cocks with really good backs but so much breat work.
bronze went to Jac Gubbles as well with another stam of clear caps this time cocks, had nice spangles dark, but not as straight as the other two stams but all four had good harmony.
I must say i was very impressed by the Standard of Blues from breeders from the host nation Spain they seem very keen on the Blues with nearly half of the entreis coming from Spain. Unfortunatley the pictures I took are not very good, so i will see if any of my new Spainish freind have some better ones.
looking forward to a big team of blue lizard from the club in Belgium in 2013.
